Henry Matthews, founder and head coach at Project Number 5 - Learn 2 skate applied for Pass The Torch 2023 to help provide exciting opportunities to the youth of Coventry, in an economically challenged area where the young people would otherwise not be able to gain opportunities like this.
"This program will help improve both James’ and Luca’s confidence and the community within the skate school, scene, and their everyday lives. These particular participants not only have shown huge progression over time here in the skate school but they have shown the community spirit by helping others in the skate school learn the basic tricks when they first arrive. They would benefit massively as it would make it possible for them to take the skills they learn into everyday life and make it possible for them to help others learn how to skateboard when they see someone struggling at the skatepark. Providing such an exciting and impactful opportunity for Coventry which is so different and will help participants learn what skateboarding is all about."
