NAIROBI HILTON PARK DIY

Hilton Park is a mostly abandoned public space located in the centre of Nairobi's Central Business District. The spot itself was beautifully designed, with lush vegetation surrounding it and the tall buildings of the city centre in the background. This made for beautiful skate footage being shot at the spot. 

The public space is under the joint ownership and management of the Kenya Government and the Hilton Hotel after which the park was named. This meant that for the longest time skaters would get kicked out of the spot as it was seen as a security risk for the Hotel. However, the Hilton hotel adjacent to it has recently closed, meaning there is now a space for various activities. With the help of the DIY fund, they have been able to make the adjustments necessary to make the space suitable for skateboarding and craft unique obstacles to live within it.

Providing value not just for the community but also the various other individuals that would seek to use the space.
